You better get your house in order You better get your house in order We don’t make our time You better get your house in order No one gets out of here alive Be careful how you treat your enemies Be careful with your friends Take care how you treat a stranger That may be your savior in the end You shall never be empty Keep your window open to the east Robbers, cheaters and deceivers Are your brothers in need Have compassion with your lover Always put them above Don’t go around breaking hearts Don’t play with love -D. The Pressure D. Dudeck ASCAP Love is cooking in the kitchen wrapped in a ruby slip Your ears are twitching and my heart flips What a feeling when I grip your hips Love is my distant cousin, time keeps marching on Like the Jelly Rolling down your jawbone Pinned to purple hearts and feeling stoned In deeds and ways she puts a change across my mind You want me to stay and call you mine But darling please relieve the pressure sometime I’m going to catch two Katie’s ease on out of town Cross the river with my baby roll on the ground We’ll be strangers just come in your town We’ll be strangers don’t dog us down We’re strangers please don’t turn us down

Odious Plot 04:49
Odious Plot (Sober Song): D G D C D C G D There’s an Odious Plot to keep me sober A nefarious scheme to keep me from turning mean I ordered those shots a long time over But our glasses are clean Our glasses are clean That Little blonde bartender is such a beautiful sight She’s been bringing me water And apple juice all night She flirts with her sister’s smile And has every guy - sure she’s giving him the eye Sure, she’s giving him the eye L’autre Bonne soirée Here in the middle of the road And there aint nobody Worried about the heavy load I once drank to remember and never regret Kisses tender from my sweet coquette Hey, wasn’t everybody dancing? Who turned on the lights? Weren’t we were romancing and having fun tonight? So I fell down, forgot the words It’s all around How I lost my shirt Now I’ve lost my shirt There’s an Odious Plot to keep me sober A nefarious scheme to keep me from turning’ mean I ordered those shots a long time over But our glasses are clean Our glasses are clean -D.Dudeck

Get Your House In Order

By James Calemine, Hittin' the Note Magazine

Music Maker trustee Mudcat recorded 16 songs with no overdubs in September 2006 at Zero Return Studios in Atlanta. Ten of the compositions are originals. Several of the other tunes were crafted by fellow Music Maker artists, Curly Weaver and Cootie Stark. These recordings turned out to be Get Your House In Order.
Mudcat employs the usual suspects--Eskil Wetterqvist (drums), Dave Roth (bass), and Lil Joe Burton (trombone) as his band. This group continues to diversify and expand their sound with each new release.
This CD is divided into three parts. The first six songs comprise Part One; the next five--part two. The last five songs on the CD contain "Bonus Tracks". The title track opens with Daniel "Mudcat" Dudeck's gritty slide, and soon a New Orleans riverboat flavor of brass and a dry kick snare appear.
"Whiskey Angel" carries a Mudcat lick that reminds one of what Blind Willie McTell would've sounded like if he went electric. With this release, Mudcat continues his exploration of different styles in American music traditions. "Don't Let Nobody Drag Your Spirit Down" represents Mudcat's positive messages that run through his songs.
"Agradezco a Dios" conjures images of drinking rum at an iron table under the cool summer stars in Barcelona...or Costa Rica...Mudcat's Hawaiian slide delineates music cultures. "Cold Rainy Day" highlights Mudcat's low slide playing that ranks him as a formidable guitarist who has entertained people all over the world. His travels secrete into his songs.
"Odious Plot" sounds like a country blues hymn that would fit on any Louvin Brothers album. This contends as one of Mudcat's finest compositions. "Take Peace In your Heart" could've fit on any 70s city funk film soundtrack on merits of the song's groove alone. "The Pistol Song" crosses Lightning Hopkins and Hank Williams in this late night barroom drama...musical grains of the JBs linger within the melody.
"Woman In Love" sounds like ragtime street jazz. The final track plays like a reprise that fades like a street gypsys strolling down the avenue into the summer night. Mudcat's music always provides a great way to travel.

GET YOUR HOUSE IN ORDER ****
30 Miles up / Music Maker

By Marc Loison, Soul Bag Magazine
